+It's not necessarily overkill, it definitely sounds like good functionality - it just might be hard to do :P  Yes, the different possible states of the bugs directory makes for some interesting edge cases for a b-commit command.  But it's certainly doable.  Keep me posted if you make any progress, and I'll try to look into this more as well.
